Gunner Herbert Cliff Knight

Herbert was born on the 6th August 1879, and baptised on the 14th September 1879 in Holmwood Surrey. He was the son of Thomas and Mary Ann.

In 1881, the family were living in Holmwood. Thomas was working as a bricklayer.

In 1891, he was living in Warwick Terrace, Holmwood with his parents and siblings. Herbert had become a bricklayer like his father. In 1901 the family were living at 6, Church Terrace, Holmwood. They were still there in 1911, Herbert and Thomas were still working as bricklayers.

Herbert enlisted in Guildford to the 3rd Brigade. Ammunition Column. Royal Field Artillery with a regimental number of 150891. He died of dysentery on 21st January 1918 aged 39. He was buried  in Mikra British Cemetery Kalamaria
