Lieutenant Percy John Emerson Pierce

Percy John Emerson Pierce was born in Dorking on the 16th February 1899, the son of Percy Love and Fanny. He was baptised in Ham, Surrey on the 7th May 1899.

In 1901, the family were living at 23 High Street, Dorking, Percy had one sister. His father Percy was working as a manager in a drapers and Fanny, his mother, worked as a drapery buyer. The house also provided lodging to dressmakers.

In 1910, Percy was admitted to Dorking High School for Boys.

In 1911, Percy was lodging in St. Pancres, Chichester.

Percy joined the Royal Air Force, 19th Squadron (Sierra Leone Carrier Corps) as a Lieutenant. He was killed whilst flying a Dolphin D3762 on 13th August 1918 in France. He was buried in Vignacourt British Cemetery. V. C. 19.
